Checklist of W. Henry Brown and Bennett & Brown Stereographs of New Mexico

I have found that focusing on format can provide significant and valuable additional information about photographic images. Format data can assist in dating and providing context for other images, and in providing information about settlement and development activities in a given geographic area.

I have been compiling listings of stereographs taken in Arizona and New Mexico from the 1860's to ca 1920. This list of New Mexico titles assumes printed caption, with manuscript titles identified by (manuscript). Photographer's credit is indicated by (HB) for W. Henry Brown, (B) for George C. Bennett or (B&B) for Bennett and Brown).

Please help add to this list by sending additions to me at the address above. Include all caption information, whether manuscript or printed ID and photographer's credit on the mount.

Thanks to: John Weiler, the George Eastman House, and Homer Milford of the NM Mining and Minerals Division for the extensive information on the Cerrillos mining area captions. His superb articles on this area and images are available at https://www.cerrilloshills.org/history/a-cultural-historical-overview/history-of-the-cerrillos-mining-district/tri-cultural-use-of-the-cerrillos-mines.
